Hi my name is Christy and I am a senior graduating in December majoring Communication Arts. I am from the Twin Cities and spent my first summer in Madison this past summer and loved it. A little about me, my favorite season is the Fall, I love everything about UW-Madison, and live for game days! I am excited to take this class because I spend a lot of time online doing everything from facebook, twitter, reading blog cites, and watching TV shows, ect. I’m looking forward to this class and nice to meet everyoe!
Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie Wezelman, and I am a sophomore here at UW-Madison studying Journalism, with a certificate in Entrepreneurship. I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, until I decided to venture halfway across the country and go to school here in Madison! I get asked all the time why I chose this weather, but after surviving my first winter, I have to say I did quite well! I love photography, and taught it to children this summer at a camp up in Canada. After an amazing last few months, I’m happy to be back in Madtown with all of my friends. I am very interested in the progression of technology and greatly look forward to this class. After being anti-Twitter for a very long time, I ended up getting one last Spring and have become obsessed. Besides that, I want to learn more about keeping a blog. I look forward to working with all of you this semester!
Hello! I’m also Jenny, I see there’s another one of us!
I’m from Madison – born and raised. My major is Comm Arts focusing on the rhetoric side. I’m driven by interpersonal communication and a much more psychological analysis of humans. I like to learn how people tick, and how to better appease them, whether they be business customers or friends. My first thought was to major in marketing, but I enjoy the CA courses much more because they are theory based and can be applied to every-day-life, as well as career-life. I’m looking forward to understanding this course, especially since I have no academic history with TV/Radio Courses, and my entire semester is filled with internet-based curriculum.
I like to make earrings in my spare time. I created a business plan in high school and intend to carry it out. You can find my earrings on facebook, but it’s a work-in-progress since I just created it, and half of my materials are at my parents’ home. The business is called ‘Earrings By Lobe Designs’, and hopefully one day I will open on State Street!
Okay, great meeting you. Hasta luego!

I’m Jenny, a senior at UW majoring in English and Communication Arts. Needless to say, I have a lot of writing to do, but it’s okay, because I absolutely love writing. I was born and raised in Sheboygan, WI, which is known for having a church on every corner and a bar on every other. I currently work at Health First Wisconsin, a non-profit organization that works on creating healthier communities throughout the state. I love to run, write, be with friends, and watch sports (Go Badgers!) in my free time. I’m excited for this course because I enjoy looking at the ways people communicate online and how people use the internet in different ways. I’m hoping to find some new websites to check out over the span of this class. This is my last semester, and then I’ll finish my final three credits in London studying abroad. I can’t believe it’s almost over, but it’s been a fun ride!
My name is Amy, I am a senior at the UW majoring in Communications and applying to the School of Journalism. I grew up in San Francisco but moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin ten years ago and am slowly appreciating winter. When I am not spending my time at one of Madison’s many libraries or quiet cafes I am sampling great food or helping out with the various clubs I am involved in. I love to travel and can’t get enough of my favorite social networks so I am pretty excited for this course!
Hello, all. I’m Evan Elkins, the teaching assistant for CA346. I very much look forward to discussing the internet with all of you, and I hope that our discussions will help shed light on the ways many of us use or encounter digital media every day. Of course, I’m also glad I finally have an excuse to show large groups of students all of my favorite web videos.
As for me, I am a PhD student in the Communication Arts department here at UW-Madison. I research entertainment texts and industries, focusing in particular on television and internet comedy. In addition to my personal and professional interests in comedy and humor, I enjoy listening to music, riding my bike, and sampling Madison’s many wonderful restaurants.
Hey, everybody! I’m Danny, the lecturer for CA346 (and the discussion leader for CA288, the honors seminar that meets with it). I’m really excited to be teaching this class– you probably use the internet every day and we’ll be looking at all sorts of ways that it’s kind of a big deal.
And welcome to our dandy course blog, too! Take a minute to have a look around. It’s got all kinds of great stuff for you: readings, assignments, and other class info. And you should totally join our Facebook group and follow #ca346 on Twitter, too.
As for me, I’m doing research here at UW on internet policy and the public sphere. I also enjoy traveling, eating food, and following my favorite college football team (ask me if you want to know more, but, sorry, it’s not the Badgers…). That’s all for now– see you in class!
